Faith

Yippee! I am so excited! As you are reading this, I will be in Cambodia, Myanmar or will have just returned. This trip has been a journey of faith. Last year, my planned trip was cancelled at the last minute due to lack of funding. I was very disappointed and my negative attitude stuck with me.

Months ago, when Mark said that I would be going this year, I said “great,” but, inside, I was thinking, “it would be great, but will probably not happen.” I did not have the funds and knew it was going to be an expensive year in my family (not even knowing about some things which added to that). People would ask if I was going and I would say, “I don’t know.” My own sponsor son, Sitha, asked and I told him the same thing. I felt that I needed to go, but that it wouldn’t happen … I lacked faith.

A couple of weeks ago, God hit me with a reminder that I needed. My sponsor daughter, Sreymom, sent me an email. She said that she had really wanted to talk to me in person about some confusion in her life

and was very disappointed that she could not. Her email stopped me in my tracks.

Daily, I look at the names and faces of children who are impacted through Raising Kids and CCSN. I always say that the sponsors are changing the children’s lives and believe that wholeheartedly. Somehow, though, I had lost that realization within my own life. My lack of faith was not just affecting me. It was affecting others as well. I needed to go and not worry about the funds.

My flights were booked as quickly as possible. Almost half of the flight costs are already covered through the generosity of some wonderful people. I still don’t know where the rest of the funds will come from but trust that God will provide. Praise God for his wonderful mercy that pierced through my  lack of faith!

I know that this was partially due to the prayers that many of you say for me. Thank you! I really appreciate it. While you are praying, could you please pray for Mak Phean. She is the new houseparent in the Phnom Penh children’s home and needs our prayers, especially during this adjustment time. And, please, never lose sight of the impact that YOU are having.

Temporary Fostercare

In May, when our medical team came to Lhasa to treat the children, one family came to us and asked the doctors to help their baby girl. She had serious high altitude heart disease. She couldn’t live here and had to go to the low altitude places. At that time, she also had heart failure. She was one and half years old, but only weighed 5kg. She couldn’t even stand. The doctors suggested that she be put in the hospital right away and later sent to places outside of TB. The family was very poor and couldn’t afford to put her in the hospital. Matt agreed to pay for her. We also asked her parents whether they would like us to put this baby with a family in Chengdu. For the first time in history, one Tibetan family is willing to put their child for fostering. We put her in a loving Chinese family in the middle of June. We went to visit her in the end of July. She had improved a lot. She gained weight to 7kg. She can stand up by holding a stick and she also started learning to walk.

The baby’s parents and grandpa are very grateful that we helped this child. We shared our faith with them and told them this is God’s love. After many times of sharing, the baby’s father accepted the Lord. Later we will arrange to go to her hometown and share the good news with other family members. We believe that many people in her hometown can know Him through this family.

中文 IT and Sponsors!

Cambodia Christian School

Network (CCSN)

IT is happening. Mark was in Cambodia in mid-July to tell the parents of Rongko’s 12th grade class about IT. He brought back copies of the booklets describing IT – one of which is now in my hands. IT has been in planning and preparation since 2006. IT is bringing many changes to a rural community. IT is leading people to Jesus.

What is IT?

IT is the Institute of Technology at Rongko. Classes begin on October 4. Students who would not have been able to obtain advanced education in the past will now be able to get a Bachelor’s Degree in several areas – English, Information Technology, Business Administration, Agricultural Technology, and Agricultural Economics. Students are anxiously waiting.

Pray with us as the final details come together and as IT opens the doors of hope to Cambodia

Children’s Homes

(Partnership with  NHO)

God is good!

In May, Mark was at GA611 church in Hong Kong. While there, he felt led to speak to the people about Cambodia. As a result, 19 people/couples (so far) have decided to sponsor 29 Cambodian children within NHO. Praise God and thank you GA611! Welcome to the Raising Kids sponsorship family!

I am so joyful in knowing that 29 more children have people who are praying for them and providing for their needs. Before this happened only four children at the Battambang home were sponsored. Now, every child currently at the home (actually every child currently within NHO) has a sponsor. This is an answer to prayer!

Children are always arriving at the children’s homes of our partner ministries in Myanmar, India and Cambodia. Actually, at the moment, there are approximately 90 children in Myanmar and one in India who are waiting for their sponsors. In India, we also need approximately 14 educational supporters for the children.  Please continually pray with me for more sponsors to join Raising Kids so that these 91 children (and any child arriving in any of the three countries) will have someone who is specifically praying and providing for them and their needs. I know that God will answer those prayers.

Sowing Seeds

This month, we went with Pastor Mark, brothers and sisters from Hong Kong GA611 and Malaysia GA611 to Shigaze and Namco for prayerwalking. On the way, whenever we passed by the key places, we would stop and talk to people about the Good News – even when we were having lunch on the road. People would stop and share food with us and we would share the Good News with them. Most of them have never heard of the Good News. We are very excited to be the first sowers!!!

When we came back to Lhasa, we invited about ten family representatives to come to celebrate the ten-year new life anniversary. This is the first time in history we had open worship. With the GA611 Malaysia’s worship team, the preaching by Pastor Zhou from Hong Kong, the speech by Pastor Mark and the ministry from other brothers and sisters, the Holy Spirit was moving among the families. They were very touched and willing to accept Jesus as their Savior.

We are very thankful for what SEAPC has done for the last ten years. We are also very thankful for what other churches, brothers and sisters have offered for Touching Hearts. That day we believed that God was reminding us how important teamwork is. May the Lord bless those who fear him with wealth and riches, so that they can give them to the poor in health and spirit!!!!
